The Deputy Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, Dr Nobuhle Nkabane (MP) will on Tuesday, 12 December 2023 hand over two Social and Labour Plan projects by Samancor Chrome mines in Majakaneng and Bokfontein, Madibeng Local Municipality, Brits.

The projects are Majakaneng bulk water and Infrastructure Development and Supply, and Land Donation to Madibeng Local Municipality for the purpose of relocation of De kroon Informal Settlement to Boksfontein. Mining companies are required by law to implement projects that seek to empower communities in which they operate, labour-sending areas, and employees for a better standard of living through socio-economic development, including investment in skills, knowledge, and experience.

The Deputy Minister will be joined by Mr Nono Maloyi – MEC for Cooperative Governance, Human Settlement and Traditional Affairs (COGHSTA), in the North West province, Madibeng Local Municipality Executive Mayor; Cllr Douglas Maimane and  Samancor Executive Management team.
