The Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, Mr Gwede Mantashe (MP), will on Friday, 28 April 2023 officially open and handover the JS Skenjana Senior Secondary School in Idutywa, Eastern Cape, to the Department of Basic Education.

The construction of the school was funded by Sibanye-Stillwater as part of its Social and Labour Plan (SLP). The Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act (MPRDA) makes provision for the development and implementation of the SLPs to enhance the quality of life in mining communities and labour sending areas. 

Deputy Minister of Basic Education, Dr Reginah Mhaule and the Eastern Cape MEC for Education, Mr Fundile Gade are expected to receive the school on behalf of the Department of Education.
