MINISTER MANTASHE TO VISIT SIBANYE-STILLWATER MINEWORKERS VACCINATION SITES IN RUSTENBURG AND MARIKANA

Date Published: 28 Jul 2021

The Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, Mr Gwede Mantashe (MP) will tomorrow, 29 July 2021, visit the Sibanye-Stillwater mineworkers vaccination sites in Rustenburg and Marikana, North West Province. The programme forms part of the mining sectors’ Covid-19 vaccination rollout plan.

Though the country has been placed under Adjusted Alert Level 3, the mining sector remains operational as part of government’s overarching approach to saving lives whilst protecting livelihoods. The vaccination of mineworkers – adding to the sectors’ vigorous screening and testing programme – seeks to ensure that mineworkers are protected against the pandemic whilst they convert investments into wealth and contribute positively to the country’s economy.

Government’s vaccination programme of people aged 35 years and above is well underway across all Provinces, and the vaccination programme of people aged 18 years and above is expected to commence on the 1st of September 2021. We urge all persons in the sector who are eligible to register and receive the vaccine jabs to do so without delay.

VENUE: Sibanye-Stillwater Recreation Club, Rustenburg

TIME: 12h30

VENUE: Andrew Saffy Hospital, Sibanye-Stillwater, Marikana
