The Department of Mineral Resources and Energy has gazetted draft amendments to the Mineral Petroleum Resources Development Act (MPRDA), and draft Mine Community Resettlement Guidelines, for public comments.

The respective gazette notices state that the public comment period is 30 days from the date of the notices. Taking into account that the public comment period will run over the festive season, and to afford interested and affected parties sufficient time to consider the documents and make their inputs, the Department hereby extends the public comment period to the end of January 2020.
The gazetted mine community resettlement guidelines can be accessed here and the gazetted MPRDA Act can be accessed here.

The closing date for submission of written representations on both draft documents is therefore, Friday 31st January 2020. The aforesaid representations must be marked for the attention of Ms Sibongile Malie and hand delivered, emailed or sent by post to the following addresses:
