MINISTER MANTASHE GRIEVES THE UNTIMELY PASSING OF HIS DEPUTY, CDE BAVELILE HLONGWA - DEPUTY MINISTER OF MINERAL RESOURCES AND ENERGY

Date Published: 14 Sep 2019

The Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, Mr Gwede Mantashe, has - with great sadness; learned of the passing of the Deputy Minister, Bavelile Hlongwa (MP) on Friday, 13th September 2019.

“With deep anguish, we wish to join the President and our country in conveying condolences to the family and loved ones of Comrade Bavelile. As we commenced our term of office in the new administration of our Government, we were beginning to gel as we considered ways in which we could deal with the challenges facing our Ministry, and our country. This is, indeed, an untimely end to a young, promising prospect”, said Minister Mantashe.

Deputy Minister Hlongwa joined national government in May 2019 when President Cyril Ramaphosa announced the new members of the executive in the 6th democratic administration.

Ms Hlongwa has served in various structures of the governing party, both locally and provincially in KwaZulu-Natal.
