GENERAL NOTICE:SUBMISSION OF ANNUAL REPORTS IN TERMS OF SECTION 28 (2) (C) OF THE MINERAL AND PETROLEUM RESOURCES DEVELOPMENT ACT, 2002 (ACT 28 OF 2002)

In terms of section 29 of the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act 28 of 2002 (“the Act”) holders of mining rights granted in terms of section 23 of the Act are hereby directed to report their level of compliance with Broad Based Socio Economic Empowerment Charter for the South African Mining Industry as contemplated in section 28 (2) (c).
The holders of the mining rights are to populate the said template and submit such reports for the 2015 reporting period at the relevant Regional Offices before the end of April 2016.
The submission of reports will be done, both, in a form of hard and soft copy format. Read more

REMINDER: COMMENTS ON THE AFRICAN EXPLORATION MINING AND FINANCE CORPORATION BILL 2016, READ WITH ITS MEMORANDUM OF OBJECTS.

The African Exploration Mining and Finance Corporation Bill (the Bill) was published in the Government Gazette on 22nd January 2016 for public comments for a period of 60 (Sixty) days.
The objects of the Bill include, inter alia, to provide for the establishment of the Corporation as a State Owned Mining Company to be known as the African Exploration Mining and Finance Corporation SOC Limited.
This serves as a reminder that the closing date for submission of comments on the Bill is 22nd March 2016. Read more

MEMORANDUM ON OBJECTS OF THE AFRICAN EXPLORATION MINING AND FINANCE CORPORATION DRAFT (AEMFC) BILL 2015

The main purpose of the Bill is to provide for the establishment of the corporation through an Act of Parliament. The Minister, on behalf of the State, must sign the memorandum of incorporation and any other documents necessary in connection with the formation of the company. The Corporation must be registered at the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission and issued with a registration certificate in accordance with the Companies Act. Read more

WARNING AGAINST FRAUDULENT REQUESTS FOR PROCUREMENT OF GOODS ON BEHALF OF THE DEPARTMENT OF MINERAL RESOURCES.

The Department of Mineral Resources would like to warn members of the public against an organised syndicate (s) scamming unsuspecting members of the public and claiming to act on behalf of the Department.
One of the ways in which the syndicate operates is by requesting quotations for various goods and services from potential service providers, locally and abroad. Once the service provider has delivered the goods, they are then advised by the syndicate to invoice the Department directly for goods delivered.
The Department condemns such illegal activities and encourages service providers to confirm the legitimacy of purchase orders with the Department’s supply chain unit, prior to processing and delivery of goods. Read more
